A HBCU Legacy Bowl Athletes Staff Report

A total of six players from HBCUs played in the two college all-star games — the Senior Bowl and the East West Shrine Bowl — on Feb. 4 and Feb 2.

The National team defeated the American 27-10 in the Senior Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 4 in Mobile, Alabama.

In the East-West Shrine Bowl, the West prevailed 12-3 behind four field goals from Michigan kicker Jake Moody.

Florida A&M linebacker Isaiah Land and Jackson State linebacker Aubrey Miller played in the Senior Bowl.

“They were our guys,” American head coach Luke Getsy, who’s the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator, told the Tallahassee-Democrat. “They had to do everything ― special teams, linebacker. Isaiah had the big sack because that’s what he came here to do. He’s selfless and said ‘I’ll play another position for you’ with a cast on his hand. “I’m really grateful for (Land and Miller). You can tell that they love football.”
